ski_poles_2There’s still a few weeks left before ski season is finally traded in for softball batting drills and baseball score sheets, but it’s not too soon to start thinking about off season ski care. As you’re getting ready to put those skis away for a long summer, follow these tips to keep them in good shape:

  • Clean the skis. Get rid of all the wax that’s on there.
  • Apply protective wax. Off-season wax protects the finish on your skis and keeps them dust-free.
  • Release the bindings. Tension on the bindings might affect the camber on the skis.
  • Store skis flat. Keep them under your bed or in a basement or garage. What matters is that you keep them out of direct sunlight and don’t lean them against the wall, which can also affect the camber.
  • Plan for autumn. Ski season will be back before the end of the year. Make an appointment now to adjust ski bindings before the new season starts, and you’ll have a countdown to your return to the slopes.
